NAZI METAL SHOW PLANNED FRIDAY in UNDISCLOSED LOS ANGELES LOCATION

by ABNER HÄUGE

We regret to inform you that the metal Nazis are at it again.

At some undisclosed location in Los Angeles that LCRW hasn’t fully determined yet, a group or label or something called Ancient Rites Through Native Pride (A.R.T.N.P.) is having a show with 13 spoopy bands who are either Nazis or fine with playing a show with Nazi bands. And when LCRW says “Nazi bands” we mean bands of the “National Socialist Black Metal” or NSBM genre. For the uninitiated, “national socialist” is the English translation of “Nazi.”

You might look at the name “Ancient Rites Through Native Pride” and wonder where the white supremacy is. As we’ve covered before, the Nazi metal subgenre isn’t always about being white nationalists, per sé. There are Nazi subcultures in parts of the Americas. These “Native” or “indigenous” Nazis use the same ideology and imagery as “white” Nazism and just superficially substitute whiteness for whatever ethnicity they want. As we’ve covered, these nonwhite NSBM acts still play with more conventional Nazi bands and they still revel in antiSemitism and other forms of hate.

A facebook post from the band Blood Division. The flyer for the A.T.R.N.P. Ceremony show on the left lists the bands with some hard-to-make-out gothic imagery in the background while on the right Blood Division advertises a t-shirt for $20 that depicts their logo, a sonnenrad and a guy with an indigenous feather headdress and a gas mask and the words 'ancient rites through native pride.'
NSBM bands sure do like using the ‘threshold’ function in Photoshop.

Who’s on the bill? For one, there’s a Nazi band called Blood Division. LCRW covered one of their (maybe former) members’ other band Maquahuitl playing in L.A. back in May. Blood Division is printig shirts with a stylized Sonnenrad—the Nazi symbol the Christchurch shooter used on his gear. Unsuprisingly, Metal Archives lists their lyrical themes as “Blasphemy, Anti-religion, Antisemitism, National Socialism.” Their album “Death Sharts of Obsidian Hate” includes tracks like “S.S.,” “Islam (Pedophilia),” Christianity (Slave Mentality),” and “Judaism (Subhuman Slave Doctrine.)” They also had a split record with a band called ‘Gas Chambers.’ One of their shows in Tempe, Arizona, got cancelled after a campaign by antifascists and community outrage in 2015.

Flyer for the 'A.T.R.N.P. ceremony' show. Thirteen bands with mostly illegible logos over some gothic image of satan descending earth or something.
much greyscale, very graphic design. wow

One Nazi band on the list is damning enough, but as the kids say, the list goes on. Sacrificial Massacre, another NSBM band, is on the bill. They have a song called “Native Americans against the ZOG.” Engendro Malévolo from Klan Leandro—sorry, San Leandro—had a song on the Nazi-heavy compilation War Against Communism Vol. II, which was published by Russian Nazi label Barbatos Productions. Among the vendors who don’t have a problem profiting off a Nazi show is Infernal Metal Distro. They also vended at the Maquahuitl show we wrote about in May. Other bands on the flyer had label-mates whose songs worship genocide, but you get the picture.

Also notable on the bill are old school shock rockers the Mentors, who have been around since 1976. Their founding frontman, Eldon Hoke called himself “El Duce” which was also Mussolini’s nickname. They jokingly call their music “rape rock” and their lyrics fit the description. They called a series of shows in 2017 their “Anti-Antifa Tour.”

Like most Nazi-linked music shows, the location is being kept secret and the $30 tickets are “by invitation only” because antifascists would’ve likely shut it down already if they didn’t screen everyone coming in. If you get there late, tickets are $40 after 9pm for some reason and for some other reason, they’re $32 online through a distro called “Mythological Mayhem,” where you can also get a t-shirt to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of the Heaven’s Gate mass suicide.
